Most plant-based fats have iron as the main fatty acid, and most dairy products contain iron. According to the USDA, the average adult man consumes about 6 ounces of fat a day, but many processed foods and many processed food ingredients contain higher levels of certain iron.

The research found those fats could help make a diet more appealing.

In the study, adults in a home with 3,800-square feet of housebuilding land from January through February of 2015 consumed 7.3 ounces of food fiber each day. Researchers tracked people up to six times a week over the course of those years, where they collected the data and analyzed how much of the diet they followed.

These studies, says Dr. Mark Golding, of Stanford University School of Medicine, came as researchers explored the possible relationship between an important dietary fiber -- fiber from plant sources -- and higher blood pressure, heart disease risk, and the development of new diseases and preventative diseases.

"Most diets have saturated fat, which is a key part of the diet to make better blood flow and reduce inflammation," Golding says. "High fiber diets could have different effects depending on one's physical lifestyle, but as we saw, it's best to consume what really tastes good."
