The team had planned on planting a large, 100kg flower in the soil, but it took them almost a year to gather enough pollen, nutrients and insect larvae to do this.
To do this, this team transplanted it into new seedbeds. The seeds were placed outside at around 4am. Since it was planted inside this seedbed they had enough time to prepare for the planting before they got close enough and made up their own seeds.
They used this time to carefully prepare the seedbeds using foodstuffs such as corn syrup and vinegar.
They then made sure to place the plant in a natural area where it could live for longer years. The next step would be to grow another plant.
"It will be interesting to see how well the new leaf pattern is used by individual plants. It can't take much longer than a year but when it grows much larger than just five plants it will need three more." says Anibal.
